I’m now really serious about the work being done in my garage, it’s quite a large space, at least the size of two large rooms. I’ve moved the trailer and a dinghy, now we’ll have a small garage sale to get rid of anything of value and throw the rest in a skip.
Then we’ll have to fix the hole in the roof at the end and waterblast the place, then probably get some painting done on the inside. I reckon it’ll look industrial, but presentable. Then Run an extention cord in where I can set up a work station.
I’m still not sure what the insulation will be like at that stage but I’ll start collecting stock and placing it on pallets, probably only a small amount of CD and DVD media that I would use otherwise in my cd and dvd duplication business.
From there, I’ll expand to other plastic and cheap consumer electronics, but the first truly important asset will be leasing a colour copier so we operate a copying service.
I’ll also advertise graphic design services so it will be cd/dvd duplication, retailing of various plastics and consumer goods, colour copying and printing, graphic design and other services related to content . . .
All under one roof in Grey Lynn Auckland New Zealand.
The point is that none of this - other than cd / dvd copying - is core business for me so if the retail and copying is slow to get traction it doesn’t matter. I need the copier and the plastic stuff anyway and if I’m paying someone to be there for say 6 hours a day I want to get the most out of them.
It’s because it’s something I’m growing out of convenience that will give it the space to flourish as a quiet and convenient location for local businesses to pick up supplies and services.
I can see once you are active developing relationships in the community, then you’ll be able to generate a flow on as clients come back to utilize more of the trusted services delivered under your brand.
I’ll already launch and start developing the websites now as it will take several months for them to build authority but I’m confident I can build and expand my new offline businesses with my online marketing knowledge just as I have with my current offline services to build the overall strength of my small business.
